Trace P. Demarest, Esq.

Trace Demarest is an Associate Attorney whose practice focuses exclusively on family law. He represents clients in a wide range of matters, including complex custody disputes and high-conflict financial cases. Trace approaches custody matters with compassion and sensitivity to the needs of families and children, while handling complicated property and financial disputes with strategic focus and vigor.

Trace earned his law degree from the University of California, College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings), where he served as President of the Family Law Student Association and was an active member of the OutLaw chapter. During law school, he also worked as a research assistant for a tax law professor and as a teaching assistant for Constitutional Law.

While in law school, Trace clerked for the Honorable John Adams of the Superior Court of California, Orange County, and later for the Unified Family Court in San Francisco, gaining valuable insight into the judicial perspective on complex family law matters.

Prior to law school, Trace graduated with College Honors from Washington University in St. Louis, where he majored in International and Area Studies and minored in Italian and Film & Media Studies. Before entering the legal profession, he taught fourth grade humanities in San Jose through Teach For America and completed two internships with the U.S. Department of State, including a term in Milan, Italy.

Originally from Manhattan Beach, California, Trace is proud to practice law in Southern California. Outside the office, he enjoys golfing, running, spending time with friends and family, and visiting the dog park with his pug, Franklin. He also enjoys cooking vegetarian meals and spending time with his rescue cat, Scotch.
